In the second -half, the Italians seized the game by the scruff of the neck as captain Pinamotti scored a brace – including a penalty to ensure the Malians had no chance of coming back; which seemed on the cards when Mohammed Camara equalized on 79 minutes.
A looping header from Davide Fratessi in the 84th minute ended the contest.
