Elias Gora, a retired sport administrator, has called for the revival of school sports at all levels in Nigeria in order to groom potential talents.
Gora, who was Nigeria’s Chef de’ Mission at the 2010 New Delhi Commonwealth Games, made the remark in Lagos.
He added that there was a near absence of school sports activities in many educational institutions.
“Today we have institutions that do not have even space for athletes to even play the common football or run around.
“Without hitting each other of knocking each other down, and yet those institutions are approved by government either state or federal.
“I cannot understand why we relegate sports to nothing, when it has given this nation a big name.’’
Gora also called on sport administrators to collaborate with past officials in order to exchange ideas for sports development in the country.
