According to the Executive Secretary of the Muslims Pilgrims welfare Board Gombe State, Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan in a telephone interview with Voice of Nigeria,that the first batch of Gombe Pilgrims will be air lifted from Jeddah Air Port to Lawanti Airport Gombe.
Max Air lifted the first batch of 558 instead of 560 and landed at Lawanti Airport Gombe state around 4:45 Nigeria local time, Alhaji Suleiman Arzo one of the Pilgrims,and also a special adviser to the Government of Gombe State confirmed their safe arrival.
Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan said two of the Pilgrims lost their International Passports at Jedda Airport, that was the reason why they were excluded form the first flight, the state Muslims Pilgrims welfare Board is making arrangement to Provide those two Pilgrims with new international Passports, and assured they will be airlifted in second flight.
The Pilgrims who went to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj this year were 1541, one woman died few days after she completed her Hajj Exercise.
On the 1 September second flight that will airlift second batch is expected, according to the early scheduled.
