The Residents of Gombe in Northern Nigeria have started enjoying the amenities of the present administration with the delivery of 40 million litres of water to them daily.
The state’s Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, who spoke with State House correspondents on Friday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, said it was part of his administration’s committee to work for the people of the state.
He said his recent visit to the Dandin Kowa Dam project, which was abandoned for years, afforded him the opportunity to assess the water supply situation in the state, leading to the resuscitation of pipe borne water in the state.
“The whole project of water supply was abandoned by the previous administration and that was why in the last eight years that the governor was there, he did not go to that place to visit and find out what was happening.
“That was why I went there and saw it, and we will address the issue. Now people have found succour. At last, there is a relief. We are pumping not less than 40million litres daily to Gombe Township,” he explained.
Fertilizer To 114 Wards
Governor Yahaya disclosed that his administration had also provided one truck of fertilizer, which is 30 tons, to each of the 114 wards in Gombe State.
He noted that 80% of the people of the state are farmers, who need to be given agricultural inputs to assist them in their occupation, pointing out that the previous administration in the state failed to provide fertilizers to farmers.
The Gombe governor promised to pay the new minimum wage, which has been signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“I’m in Nigeria and there is a presidential approval, we shall struggle to make up with whatever the federal government comes up with in this country,” Governor Yahaya stated.
He also said that his administration would make a difference in good governance and service delivery from what obtained in the past.
Governor Yahaya who was at the Presidential Villa on a solidarity visit to President Buhari, described him as the father of the nation.
“For me as the governor and the good people of Gombe State, we felt we need to see the president to reaffirm our solidarity and support for him and equally for the ideals he stands for in this country.
“Mind you Gombe is 100% APC (All Progressives Congress), and we fought with the support of the president to deliver Gombe to APC.
“That’s why we have to continuously engage and be giving updates on the situation in the state and what is happening in the current situation in the country. That’s why I came to see him,” he explained.
The Governor further disclosed that the committee set up by his administration to recover public property in the state, had recovered a lot adding that it would be made public.
