Gombe moves to address inadequate Power supply

The Gombe State government has constituted a nine-man Taskforce team to fine lasting solutions for steady power supply.

The team would be chaired by Abdullahi Gwarzo and Muhammed Hinna to serve as Secretary/Legal adviser, other members of the Committee are; Felix Gambo Mukollo, Kayinu Ambore, Saidu Maigari, Modi Gwandum, Babayo Bello, Adamu Dukku and Ahmed Pindiga.

A statement from the Governor’s office said;”the committee is mandated to ascertain the current level and capacity of power transmission, determine the adequacy or otherwise of electric feeder pillars and substations as well as electric transformers at strategic locations in the state.”

The Taskforce team would assess performance of all transformers with reference to imposed load and current power rating, to check causes of frequent transformer failure and proffering solutions for onward transmission to relevant bodies.

The committee is also to determine the root causes of inadequate electricity supply to rural areas and advise the government on the way out.

The state government is interested in having good understanding between customers and Jos Electricity Distribution Company Plc. (JED) and Transmission Company of Nigeria,( TCN) to boost power supply.

The committee has 30 days to submit it’s reports.
