The Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Gombe State, Senator Usman Bayero Nafada has accepted the result of the just concluded governorship election in Gombe.
He said he had no plans to contest the results in court, but expressed displeasure at the conduct of the polls, because some of the party members were arrested, harassed and intimidated by security agents.
Senator Bayero told journalists in Gombe, that personally, he would not contest the election at the court of law but could not speak for his party on the issue.
“That is not in my agenda and I have not congratulated him, because I have not seen anybody yet. It’s only this time that I am seeing you people. Unless you want me to say it here, yes, I congratulate him. Let me use this medium and opportunity to congratulate him. But that does not mean the party will not take action. But as far as I am concerned, I don’t have any problem with him,”Senator Bayero stated.
The Gombe State Governor Elect, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress, says the Marshals, who are reformed thugs now being engaged in providing road traffic, education, environmental, ward surveillance in the state would be engaged more and their welfare and conditions improved to increase employment.
He allayed the fears of those who felt that with the change of government, they would be disengaged from the services they render and their monthly stipends of ten to fifteen thousand naira stopped.
Alhaji Inuwa also pledged to improve on rural development, education, security, development, as well as Agriculture among others.
He said his goal was to engage the people of Gombe so as to improve their productivity and bring Gombe State out of poverty.
