Governor Masari of APC re-elected for second term in Katsina

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Katsina state has declared the incumbent Governor of Katsina state and candidate of All progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, winner of the Saturday’s Gubernatorial election held across the country.

Masari won the election in all the 34 local government area of the state to return for a second term in office.

The governor polled a total number of 1,178,864 votes to emerge winner, while his closest challenger, Senator Yakubu Lado Dan-Marke of PDP scored 488,621 votes.

The Vice Chancellor of Usman Danfodio University Sokoto who served as the Returning Officer for the Katsina gubernatorial election, Professor Abdullahi Audu Zuru then declared Governor Aminu Bello Masari of the APC as the winner of the gubernatorial election held in Katsina state on the 9th of March 2019.

“I certify that I was the returning officer of the Katsina state governorship election held on March 9th 2019. ” Aminu Bello Masari of the APC having satisfied the requirements of the Law and scored the highest number of votes, I hereby declare him the winner and returned elected “, he declared.

He added that, ” a total number of 16 political parties agents signed the results out of the eighteenth political parties that participated at the poll “.

Katsina’s Victory
While reacting to the victory immediately after the announcement of the final results, the katsina state Secretary to the State government, Mr Mustapha Inuwa said the victory is for the katsina state people.

He said it showed that the people of the state still believe in the policies and programmes of Governor Aminu Bello Masari.

Mr Inuwa who thanked the people for conducting themselves orderly during the elections also assured them that the government will roll out developmental programmes that would take Katsina state to the next level in the next four years.

Meanwhile, the main opposition party at the poll, the People’s Democratic Party, PDP has since kicked against the outcome of the results.

Addressing journalists shortly before the announcement of the final results, the Deputy governor candidate of the people’s Democratic Party, Alhaji Salisu Yusuf Maji-Gari alleged that what is being announced was not the reflection of what happened at the poll.

He said the party will challenge the outcome of the election in court.
