The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has declared Governor Samuel Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP winner of the Benue State governorship election after last Saturday re-run.
Governor Ortom emerged winner of the election having scored the highest number of votes in both the substantive and supplementary elections.
The State Collation Officer, Professor Sebastian Maimako who announced the results of the election said Governor Ortom polled a total of 434, 473 votes to defeat candidates of other Political parties.
“That Samuel Ioraer Ortom of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP having scored the highest number of votes is hereby returned winner of the Benue State Governorship elections dated this day 24th of March, 2019.”
Governor Ortom’s closest opponent in the race, Emmanuel Jime of the All Progressives Congress, APC scored 345, 155 votes to emerge second in the contest.
