Nigeria Police moves to tackle crimes

The Federal Government of Nigeria has assured the people of Kwara state central Nigeria of adequate security during the Saturday governorship elections.

The Minister of Information and culture Mr. Lai Mohammed disclosed this in Ilroin the state capital on Monday as his party the All Progressives Congress gets ready to consolidate on last Saturdays victory recorded by the party.

“We are here to strategise so that we can win with a higher margin than we won in last week’s Presidential and National Assembly elections. That is what we have been doing.

We are also using this medium to appeal to our people that Federal Government is going to provide adequate security for all.

We have been hearing a lot of things that they have imported a lot of thugs to Kwara to distrupt the Saturday elections. If anyone does so he or she will be risking his or her life.”

Speaking on the security arrangement during last week’s election, the Minister said as much as it might not have been very perfect but the security arrangement last week was good as adjudge by observers and other stakeholders.

It will be unfair to say that there was no adequate security during last week’s elections. Even international observers have agreed that the success of the last election was due largely to the efforts of the security

All we can ask is that there should be more security in our polling units. All I can assure you is that the security agencies and personnel know what they are doing. We can only appeal to them to redouble their efforts.”
