Gubernatorial Election: Accreditation, voting begins in Jigawa

The gubernatorial and house of assembly elections in Dutse the state capital of Jigawa state kicked off in the early hours of the day.

Most polling units commenced the voting process as early as 8 am.

Some polling units visited by our correspondent includes Fagoji 002, Fagoji 003, Garu Arewa and Garu kudu all under Kasarau ward in Dutse metropolis.

Others include Gadadur polling unit under Kachi ward and Takur site 1&2 under Jigawar tsada ward.

Voice of Nigeria observed that the electoral process was peaceful however INEC ad-hoc staff decried low turnout of voters.

They explained that some of the smart card readers had little hitches as a result of network issues.

However they noted that the problems were rectified immediately by the commissions technical officials and voting continued without any hitches.

Peaceful Process
Voice of Nigeria also observed that security personnel are present in all the polling units to ensure a peaceful process.

At Garu Arewa PU 006 in front of Emir of Duste the turn out was not too impressive as compare to the Presidential election.

A former minister of power and steel under Abacha regime who also served as minister of interior under Abdusalami Abubakar regime Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu has expressed satisfaction about the voting process.

Also at Fagoji PU 002 and PU003 which known as pulling units with largest population in Duste metropolis, the turn out was not impressive as compare to the last presidential and national assembly election, although the voting process is also going on very peacefully.

At Zaida Dadi PU 012, the adhoc staff here complained of  card reader failure and low turn out, though voting process in Duste generally is very peaceful.
