Gubernatorial election begins in Kogi

The governorship election in Kogi state, North Central Nigeria has commenced across the twenty one local government Areas in the state.

Accreditation and voting started at 8am local time while in some areas, there were record of late arrival of materials.

However, security agents were seen positioned in all the polling units and other strategic positions to ensure peaceful conduct of the elections.

Movement is being restricted from 8am to 4pm local time and the people were seen complying to the restricted order by the police force.

Most of the streets are deserted except people seen moving towards the polling units to exercise their franchise.

Observers, both local and international were going round the state to observe the conduct of the elections.

The governorship election is going on along side with the Kogi west senatorial elections which was nullified.

So far, no complaint of any violence has been reported as the voting continues till 2 pm local time when votings would stop after the last person in the line might have voted.
