Gubernatorial Election: Collation of results begin in Benue

Results of the Gubernatorial Election in Benue State has begun at the Collation Centre at Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Headquarters in Makurdi.
Presiding over the exercise, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda said the Collation of results will be transparent and will be in an open manner.
Yilwatda said results of nine local government areas were ready for presentation and that parties affected by different issues on the field already filled the EC forms and the challenges will be addressed as they come.
The Benue REC said in less than 48 hours a case was reported at the RAC level whereby INEC officers were attacked by Gunmen in ten polling units with 5,906 Registered voters .
“Our staff were also attacked at Yandev  where we have 10 polling units . In Ukum, one of the wards all the results were burnt and only one political party had election result and INEC turned it down.”
Dr Yilwadta said INEC stepped results down from Konshisha local government as well as the areas earlier mentioned.
The State Collation Officer, Prof. Sebastian Mimiko, said results from Gwer West Local government, Obi L.G.A and Ogbadibo L.G.As will be presented first.
In attendance at the Collation Centre are the State Commissioner of Police, DSS State Director, Benue State Collation Officer, Prof Sebastian Mimiko, State REC and few Service Chiefs.
