Guild of Editors to build 10-storey headquarters in Abuja

The Nigerian Guild of Editors will on Thursday in Abuja perform the ground breaking foundation for the Editors Plaza.

The multi-purpose Editors’ plaza planned since 2014 is located in Guzape district of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja and when completed would serve as the Guild headquarters and offices for rent as source of revenue to the body.

The President of the Guild, Mrs Funke Egbemode said the multi-storey edifice which sits on an expansive 5,600Sqm land will serve as another great achievement of the Nigerian Editors as well as add to the vastly changing landscape of Abuja.

Mrs. Egbemode said the construction of the Editors’ Plaza offers friends of the Guild, individuals corporate organizations and all advocates of free press an opportunity to partner with Nigerian editors as the torchbearers of the nation’s democracy and bulwark against tyranny.

The statement signed by the Guild publicity secretary, Mr. Ken Ogbechie added that the ceremony will be under the chairmanship of the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Alhaji Mohammed Bello, and his Information and Culture counterpart, Alhaji Lai Mohammed are expected to grace the occasion.

Other dignitaries expected at the event are governors, heads of ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), members of corporate Nigeria, the business community, media executives and members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors in the country.
