Hajj 2018:Dhul Hijja starts on Sunday as Saudi sights crescent moon

Monitored reports in Makkah, Saudi Arabia confirm the sighting of the new crescent moon.

In a post on its website, the official Haramain information tweeted that the 1st of Dhul Hijjah 1439, will be on Sunday the 12th of August 2018.

Consequently, Hajj Rites will commence on the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, which is on Sunday 19th, Arafah will be on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, which is on Monday 20th, while Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, which is on Tuesday, the 21st of August, 2018.

    • Yes they do. However, the religious leaders of each country are responsible for that. They announce to the public when the moon has been sighted in their various countries.
