The Nigerian House of representatives is collaborating with relevant stakeholders and the executive arm to provide durable solutions to environmental challenges the country is facing.
The Chairman House Committee on Ecological Fund, Mr. Isiaka Adekunle Ibrahim at an inaugural meeting of the committee expressed the concern over non-utilization of the ecological fund, despite the numerous challenges that the fund could address.
He however, pledged to introduce the concept of cultural ecology as part of approach to mitigate the effect of the environmental challenges on the socio-economy of Nigeria.
“Evidence on ground suggests hypothetically that there is a consistent correlation between human factors and about 50% of ecological challenges in our country, while the rest could be ascribed natural and or an act of God.” Adekunle stressed.
The committee is expected to work alongside its environment counterpart to address ecological challenges in the country
