House of Representatives to hold sectoral debate on Ajaokuta Steel Company

The Nigerian House of Representatives will on Thursday this week,  resume its sectoral debates, with special focus on the steel sector, and specifically, on how to revive the moribund Ajaokuta Steel Company in Kogi State.
Top players in the sector and major stakeholders are expected to attend the sectoral debate including ministers, top government bureaucrats, members of the Ajaokuta community, experts and other stakeholders.
The Minister of Solid Minerals and Steel Developmentl, Dr. Kayode Fayemi,  his State counterpart, Alhaji Bawa Bwari, Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, Ohinoyi of Ebira land, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim, chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government, representatives of workers’ union, experts in mines and steel as well as other stakeholders will be in attendance.
Sectoral Debate is an initiative of the 8th House of Representatives encapsulated in the Legislative Agenda with the aim of reviving Nigeria’s economy.
The first phase of the debates held in May 2016, was attended by Ministers of Finance, National Planning, Petroleum Resources, Agriculture, Trade and Investment, Power Works and Housing as well as  Solid Minerals and Steel Developmentl with a view  to making the sectors more efficient and effective as part of diversification process.
