How ‘Earth Hour’ was observed globally

Mazino Dickson

Every year, lovers of the earth, environmentalists as well as activists speak up for nature and inspire urgent action for the environment.

That in essence is what ‘Earth Hour’ represents – a global initiative of World Wildlife Foundation (WWF).

Starting as a symbolic lights out event in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour is now the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment, inspiring millions of people in over 188 countries to take action for our planet and nature.

Together, they raise awareness for energy consumption and effects on the environment.

This year, the theme was: “Change the Way We Live”.

The Earth Hour 2019 event completed on 30th March from 19:30  to 20:30 hours GMT.
