Colombian defender Carlos Sanchez has become the first player to bag a red card at the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Sanchez was shown the way out of the pitch after blocking a goal-bound attempt from Japan’s Yuya Osako in the second minute.
Shinji Kagawa dispatched the resultant penalty to give the Asians a 1-0 lead.
But Colombia have clawed their way back into the game after Juan Quintero curled an exquisite free kick that crossed the line.
Despite Japanese protests, the goal-line technology correctly ruled the effort as a goal.
At half-time, Colombia and Japan remain tied at 1-1.
