Nigeria’s Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, has distributed relief materials to victims of banditry attack in Sokoto State, North-west Nigeria.
While approving the distribution of the relief materials, the Minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq, said that it was shocking that terrorists operating as bandits disrupted the peace of communities where innocent citizens were engaged in agrarian living without posing threat to anyone.
Umar Farouq while commiserating with the victims’ families and government of Sokoto state, condemned the attacks at Sabon Birnin Local Government of Sokoto State.
“The Ministry will stand with the people in their hour of deprivation and need by ensuring that the pains inflicted on them by the terrorists are mitigated through appropriate interventions,” she assured.
The Minister lamented that criminals were killing innocent citizens, disrupting their livelihoods and displacing hundreds of families with their unwarranted attacks.
Sadiya Umar stated that relevant agencies of the Ministry have been mandated to work in collaboration with some agencies of the Sokoto State Government to provide relief materials to survivors of the attack.
