Iheanacho seeks to end 365 days goal drought


Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho will be aiming to end the worst ever scoring run of his professional career when Leicester City hosts Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday’s Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium.

The out of favour striker who is yet to appear in any competition for the Foxes this season is currently on a 24-game EPL goal drought which dates back to September 22, 2018, when he last scored for The 23-year-old netted three times for the Foxes in pre-season but has been left out of Leicester’s last four match-day squads in all competitions.

He looks a long way from seeing minutes on the pitch as the trio of Jamie Vardy, Ayoze Perez, and James Maddison are ahead of him in the pecking order.

The former Manchester City forward scored twice in 30 games in total last season for the Foxes compared to eight goals he scored in 27 games on his debut season with the Foxes.

Iheanacho’s lack of goals at Leicester City has also seen him lose his place in the Eagles squad.  He was left out of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and was an unused substitute in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw with Ukraine in Dnipro.
