Shanghai Shenhua striker Odion Ighalo has vowed to return from his latest injury setback, saying he still has plenty to offer at club level.
Ighalo, 30, suffered a hamstring injury on Wednesday while in action for the Super Eagles during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
“Of course it was a big blow to me, but everyone who know me know that I’ve already had to overcome many difficult situations in my life.
“I’ve always been a fighter and I will master this challenge, too.
“I’m so unlucky to have got the same injury and especially this period that my team (Shanghai Shenhua) needs me, I feel so sorry for the fans that I will be missing some games but I will work hard to be back to end the season very well.” He said.
Ighalo admitted that he had been unlucky with injuries in recent months.
The former Watford star finished as top scorer at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with five goals, and confirmed his immediate retirement from international football on Friday.
He scored 16 goals in 35 appearances for the Super Eagles.
