INEC presents Certificates of Return to Kwara Gov-elect,Assembly members

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Kwara has presented Certificates of Return to the State Governor Elect, Alhaji Abdurahman Abdulrazaq and twenty four members of the state House of Assembly elect under platform of the  All Progressives Congress.

Presenting the Certificates, the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu who was represented by the National Commissioner supervising Kwara,Kogi and Nasarawa States, Mallam Mohammed Haruna described the occasion as a reflection of lesson of the peaceful general elections in the state.

Mallam Haruna lauded the Senate President, Doctor Abubakar  Bukola Saraki for his display of sportsmanship by conceding defeat, urging other politicians to take a cue from him.

He stressed the need for the Governor elect to learn from the  Senate President and implored Alhaji Abdulrazak to reconcile those that  disagreed with him in the just concluded general elections in the state.

Responding, the state Governor elect, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq promised to govern the state through transparent administration.

Alhaji Abdulrazaq identified the election in the state as the first election in the state where no gunshot was fired, while applauding INEC and security agencies for providing a level plain ground in the elections.

The Governor elect said he would work together with the people to restore the loss glory of the the state.

Alhaji Abdulrazaq also vowed not to label any of the opposition members urging them to join hands with him to move the state forward.

VON reports that out of all the twenty four members- elect in the incoming 9th house of Assembly  only one female member who won under the APC, Mrs Mariam Joy Adeniran from Esa/Shawo and Igboidun  constituency in Offa local government is on the team.

The Certificates of Return presentation was attended by the state INEC commissioner , Mallam Garba Attaihiru Madami,  the state APC Chairman, Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, and party supporters among others.
