INEC promises credible polls for re-run election in Sokoto

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Sokoto State, Mr Abubakar , has said that the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC would not compromised any election results in the state and urged stakeholders to also play the game by the stipulated rules and guidelines.

Mr Musa said the re-scheduled election will be conducted at nine polling units for Tureta/Dange Shuni/Bodinga federal constituency which was the only incomplete election in the state.

Mr Musa stated this at a one day interactive forum with Political stakeholders in Sokoto State North West Nigeria.
He said: “I swear to almighty that I will not engaged on any shady deals in respect of changing the election result.

“I sacrifice my life for smooth and transparent conduct of the election as I will surely account of all what I deed in the hereafter.”

He said distribution of materials for March 9, governorship election from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) would soon commence for onward distribution to twenty three local government areas of the state.

Mr. Musa also urged security agencies and party stakeholders to monitor and escort the materials as required by law.

Meanwhile, the representative of Commissioner of Police and the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Rabo Ishiyaku, said the Nigerian police has concluded all arrangement for reinforcement of personnel as more men were deployed from Kano, Lagos and Jigawa states to secure the election.

Mr. Ishiaku said a communication centre with representative of all law enforcement agencies have been established on 24- hours to respond to distress calls and ensure reinforcement of personnel where there is need.

He assured that measures were put in place to ensure hitch free exercise, noting that security meetings which involved all the participating organs had conducted and review all happening in the last election.
