The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has commended Nigeria’s President, Muhammad Buhari, for his commitment and strategies employed in tackling security challenges across the country.
Governor Tambuwal stated this at the official inauguration and handing over of 98 vehicles to security agencies in Sokoto State.
He also praised the President for the audience granted to him and assurance given to the people of the State for restoring peace and stability in the affected areas.
“President Buhari gave me well deserve audience which I briefed him the security situation of sokoto, also assured me full commitments of his administration to overcome the challenges especially in the affected areas”, the Governor said.
Tambuwal urged federal government to provide security outfits with training and functional logistics to assist them carryout their constitutional mandate.
The Governor however called on the federal government to recruit more personnel to fill the existing gap in the security sector of the country.
He added that the donation of 98 vehicles to security agencies was part of state government commitments to compliment federal government efforts in strengthening their operations to curtail armed bandits and kidnapping activities in the State.
He said the vehicles were procured by the State government in collaboration with the 23 local government councils in the state.
He however urged the security agencies to work together and share intelligence among themselves to ensure effective restoration of peace and security in the State.
Tambuwal while thanking the security agencies in the state for their scarifies and tireless efforts in restoring peace and order in the State, said very soon the state government will set up a fully equipped Communication Control Centre to enable citizens provide security with relevant information.
The Governor thanked the State Taskforce Committee on COVID-19 for their work in collaborating with security agencies in the state on the lockdown and curfew imposed by the state government.
He advised elite and people of the state to stop playing politics with issues of health, security and traditional institutions.
The Governor charged social critics to fear Allah too and desist from writing false information as he is ready to welcome constructive criticisms for the development of the state.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Deputy Governor, Manir Dan’Iya, said the vehicles were fully equipped with the communication gadgets and will be distributed to Nigeria Police, Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp and the Department of State Security Service.
Mr Dan’iya thanked the Governor Tambuwal for approving the purchase of the vehicles to improve security operations in the State.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the security Chiefs in the State, the Assistant Inspector General of Police incharge of Zone10, Muhammad Mustapha, thanked the state government for the gesture and gave the assurance that the vehicles will be use judicious.
He assured the Governor that the security operatives in the State would redouble their efforts in ensuring the activities of bandits become history.
The AIG said federal government had since given directives to ensure peace and stability across the affected areas in the State.
