IOM repatriates 330 Nigerians from Libya


The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in conjunction with the Embassy of Nigeria in Tripoli, Libya, has repatriated 330 irregular Nigerian Migrants.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the migrants were flown into Lagos, Nigeria on Thursday, February 28, 2019.

The Spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs,George Ehidiame said the returnees were flown simultaneously on board two chartered Buraq Airline flights and arrived Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

On arrival, the Returnees were received by officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and other relevant agencies.

Ehidiame added that, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to assure the public that the Embassy of Nigeria in Tripoli, Libya, in collaboration with relevant authorities remains committed to addressing the scourge of irregular migration by Nigerians in Libya.”
