Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has confirmed that forward, Alex Iwobi, will be unavailable for their English Premier League fixture on Boxing Day.
The Nigeria international is set for a spell on the sidelines with the hamstring injury he sustained against Arsenal on Saturday, while Morgan Schneiderlin is out of Everton’s forthcoming meetings with Burnley and Newcastle United.
Ancelotti who has worked with the players twice since being confirmed by the club on Saturday confirmed the the former Arsenal player will miss the festive rush as well as the early weeks of 2020.
“Alex Iwobi is not going to play in the next games,” Ancelotti said.
“He is going to rest for two or three weeks, then start (training) with the team,” he added.
Everton travel to Newcastle on December 28 and wrap up their festive Premier League programme with a game at Manchester City on New Year’s Day.
Theo Walcott and midfielder, Morgan Schneiderlin will also be unavailable for the Toffees trip to Burnley on Thursday but the manager is hopeful of having them join the team as soon as possible.
“Theo Walcott trained for part of the session with the team on Tuesday.
“I am not sure if he will be ready for Thursday (Burnley) but he will be available for the game on Saturday (Newcastle).
“Morgan Schneiderlin is out for these games, I hope he can be back training with us on the 28th.” he said.
