Jigawa Governor votes, calls for peaceful elections

Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State has called on electorates in the state to vote peacefully in the ongoing gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections.

The Governor made the call after casting his vote at Arewa Primary School polling at ten thirty nine this morning in Arewa primary school polling unit 003 in Babura Local government area.

Badaru also urged them to behave in an orderly manner throughout the exercise so as to ensure, free, fair and credible elections in all the twenty seven local government area of the state.

Our Correspondent who visited some of the polling units in Babura Gabas,Arewa primary school and also rijiyar mangwaro in the area reports that voters turned out massively for the elections.

Voice of Nigeria reports that in most of the polling units around the area, INEC officials and election materials were seen by seven in the morning.

However, accreditation and voting commenced in all the visited polling units between eight and nine. 9 a.m.

On the issue of security, our correspondent reports that adequate security is provided in each of the polling units, and voters queued up in an orderly manner to exercise their franchise.

As at the time of filing this report, voters are still coming to the polling units to exercise their civic duty in most of the polling units.

Some of the voters who spoke to Voice of Nigeria from various local government areas through telephone commended INEC for early commencement of the elections.
