Jigawa Ministry of Agriculture says it has treated 7, 000 cows for babesiosis, worms, foot and mouth diseases in Guri Local Government Area of the state.
Dr Haruna Abdullahi, Director, Veterinary in the ministry, stated this during an inspection of seven designated vaccination centers on Mo day in Guri.
The centres are: Bodala-Zuzu; Yola-Fulani, Margadu, Wareri, Kwanarmailabbo, Kajimaran and Dameji villages.
Abdullahi said a team of 40 veterinarians were deployed to Guri to enhance treatment of the animals, following the recent outbreak of the diseases which killed over 20 cows in the area.
He advised herdsmen to report outbreak of diseases to the nearest veterinary clinic for prompt response.
Also speaking, Kabiru Garki, Head of Agriculture Department in the area, commended the state government for its timely intervention to control the outbreak.
