Kaduna 2020 budget scales second reading

The N257bn 2020 budget estimate presented to the Kaduna State House of Assembly by the Deputy Governor, Hadiza Balarabe has passed the second reading stage shortly after submition.

This came after the House set aside rule 3 (1) paragraph 7 of the standard rules of the House to allow the second reading of the bill.

Some of the law makers who contributed during the debate on the second reading said the presentation of the budget was apt, hence, gave their support and immediately referred the budget to the House Committee on Appropriation and Implementation for further legislative action.

The Speaker, Aminu Shagali who presided over the plenary explained that the budget proposal is based on projecting revenue.

Shagali therefore called on Kaduna residents to give their full support to government in the areas of revenue collation, especially by paying taxes as at when due to enable effective running of governance.

“Though the major State income is gotten from the Federation account, the State government has also made efforts towards revenue generation which has aided in making tremendous achievements in the state,” he explained.

The Speaker however said that the State Assembly is focused and ever ready to give all the neccessary support and assistance to the present executive arm in order to achieve the successes required.

Shagali assured Kaduna residents of the Assembly’s commitment in organize public hearing on the year 2020 budget in order to accommodate the yearnings of the electorate before the passage.
