Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai, says plans are being mapped out to build a media city in the State.
He stated this in an interview shortly after he received a delegation from the Kannywood United Front, led by the Chairman, Dr. Ahmad Sarari on a courtesy visit to the Government House in Kaduna.
The Governor explained that, his administration would continue to support the growth of the Kannywood Industry by providing them with a piece of land to build a theatre and studio which they requested for.
According to him, the State government would work closely with Kannywood so that they can access the CBN creative industry facility to develop their structure.
“We believe strongly in the power of creative industry, not only to provide job opportunities for our young people but also to promote our culture and tradition not only in Nigeria but across Africa. We will do whatever we can to encourage and support them,” he emphasised.
Leader of Kannywood United front, Dr. Ahmad Sarari said they were in Kaduna to congratulate the Governor on his re-election into office and also to request for a piece of land to build a cinema which was instantly granted.
“We also request the indulgence of the Governor to intervene in the ongoing crisis regarding the intervention fund from the Central Bank of Nigeria for creative industry.”
Sarari noted that, the requirements and procedures for acquiring the facility from Central Bank of Nigeira were too stringent, hence, making it difficult for their members to access it.
He said it was as a result of the non accessibility of the intervention funds that prompted them to approach the Governor, so that he could intervene and help the people to benefit too.
