The Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai says plans are underway to build boarding secondary schools for just the girl child to address the issue of dropping out of school.

He stated this when he received on courtesy visit the APC Gida-Gida campaign team which was led by his wife, Ummi El-Rufai at the Government House in Kaduna.

The Governor explained that, government is already discussing with the World Bank on the release of some funds meant for building the boarding secondary schools only for girls.

“Many of our girls usually drop out of school to be married off or get involved in hawking, hence the need for a boarding school so that they can acquire at least the secondary education,” he said.

He therefore appreciated his spouse, the chief co-ordinator of the APC Gida-Gida campaign team, whom he said, made immense contribution to the success of his re-election.

“I really applaud all of your tireless efforts of going on a tour to appreciate those that re-elected us into office. This means a lot to us because we also intended carrying out the same tour but we are busy in trying to ensure the provision of quality service delivery to the people. We thank you for doing this on our behalf”.

Speaking on the report to be submitted by the team on the complaints made by people during the tour, Governor El-Rufai promised to address the issues promptly.

“During the campaigns, people expressed their complaints to us as well, and we are already drawing out modalities on how to address them. If your report is submitted on time, we will co-opt it into our existing plans meant for the benefit of the masses,” he explained.

Earlier, the Chief Coordinator of the APC Gida-Gida campaign team, Ummi El-Rufai said, the aim of their visit was to present her team to the Governor and also pray for his success in office.

She mentioned that, the team had worked very hard during the campaign, at election periods and even after the elections. “During the campaign period and appreciation tour, the people tabled some request which we are compiling into a report and will submit to you soon”.

Mrs Ummi El-Rufai noted that, during her outings, many people appreciated the efforts of her spouse, especially the reforms and projects carried out across the State.

Gida Gida which means door-to-door was the campaign slogan used to reach out to the people at the grass root during to 2019 campaigns.
