The Kaduna State Police Command says it has recovered 246 cows, 27 sheep and arrested seven suspects believed to have been involved in rustling crime.
The Acting Commissioner of Police, Onah Sunny said this while briefing the press in Kaduna.
On the success of Community Policing in the State, Mr Sunny said the fist was achieved through community willingness to ensure safety and security of lives and properties of citizens.
He confirmed that, the Kaduna Command received reliable information about the suspected rustlers trying to move the cattle in large numbers to location yet to be ascertained.
“On receipt of the information, the Command immediately swung into action and intercepted the cattle and sheep around Iche village near Kasuwan Magani in Kajuru Local Government area of Kaduna State and equally arrested the following suspects who are currently assisting Police investigation,” Mr Sunny explained.
The suspects are; Yahuza Alhaji Zubairu, 40 years, Abdullahi Shehu, 30 years, Isa Alhaji Zubairu, Babangida Alhaji Zubairu, Sani Bello, Jamilu Yahuza and Aminu Yahuza.
Mr Sunny therefore, called on the general public across Kaduna State to rededicate themselves to the concept of civic responsibility to demonstrate personal and collective commitment in assisting the Force with timely and reliable information.
This he said would help “to sustain the gains recorded and improve security in the communities in general.”
Mr Sunny also assured the people that the suspects would be prosecuted accordingly upon completion of Police investigation and the cattle would be handed over to the real owners with verifiable proof of ownership.
