Kaduna State Police Command has convened a peace accord meeting with the leadership of political parties, candidates and other stakeholders ahead of the State Assembly election re-run.
The re-run elections will hold at some State Assembly constituencies coming up on Saturday 25th January, 2020 in Kagarko and Sanga Local Government Areas.
The State Commissioner of Police, Umar Muri said the meeting was in line with the principle of community engagement to ensure peaceful, free, fair and credible elections.
“We invite you all to partner with us in ensuring a hitch-free campaign and violence-free elections,” he said.
According to him, the peace accord signifies respective commitment to peace and also symbolises respect for the rule of law.
Muri therefore implored all the stakeholders and their supporters to accept the outcome as announced by the constituted authorities, rather than foment trouble because the results are not in one’s favour.
“Let us prepare our minds to accept the results, while those who will emerge as winners must not allow their supporters to tease and provoke the other sides in the course of jubilation, those who lose should as well channel their complaints to @ courts and restrain from using violent means as the Command will do all it takes to preserve the laws of the land,” the CP stated.
The CP assured the people of the Command’s firmness and fairness in dealing with all parties.
