Kaduna residents have expressed appreciation to the Independent National Electoral Commission and Security Agencies for the peaceful elections and secure atmosphere across the State.
In a cross section interview with our Correspondent, the residents said there was rumour of pocket of threats in some parts of the State which scared them initially.
One of the residents, Hauwa Sani explained that, they had fears initially about the exercise but after receiving information about heavy security surrounding the State, they felt secured and voted.
According to Hamisu Tsibiri, “The security personnel were adequately deployed to all polling units, there was no intimation of any kind. There was overall improvement of the entire process. We hope peace would be maintained even after Results announcement”.
Meanwhile, the entire metropolis is quiet with less vehicular and motorcycle movements. Most residents are indoors awaiting result declaration. Commercial activities have been brought to halt as only few vendors are in front of their homes making sells.
Mrs Mary Maiwada said the deserted metropolis can be attributed to the series of post election conflicts encountered previously in the State.
“People are just being careful by staying indoors to avoid being victims of circumstances. We pray for continuous peace in our dear State”.
Only children were spotted around playing ball and snooker games.
