Kano Electricity company promises innovation technology to boost power

Kano Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO, has promised to use innovative technology and science to boost power supply to its teeming customers in the franchise areas of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states by the year 2020

The Managing Director Chief Executive Dr. isiaku jamillu Gwamna made the statement at an event to mark six years of its operation is a distributor in the Power sector of Nigeria.

Gwamna said that the new year would see a major reformation in terms of investments, customer service delivery and improvement in the maintenance culture of equipment and replacement of old ones.

 “We will bring to bear the advantage of technology and science on our operation in 2020. We are more committed now and that will be our gaze until we reach the zenith as directed by our vision and mission,’’ he said.

KEDCO is one of the seven licensed power distributors in Nigeria, resulting from the unbundling of the PHCN in a power sector reform of Africa’s largest economy.

The Managing Director commended customers and staff of the organization for their effort in the last six years and urge them to be more committed to fast-track the revolutionary turnaround of KEDCO, especially the quest to meet up with its annual target N4 billion naira.

“2020 is a year full of prospect for us in KEDCO and we hope to scale up to meet up with our N4b monthly target for 2020.”

`We are very much aware of the huge contributions of our staff in ensuring that they keep KEDCO’s flag flying in terms of challenging the status quo and ensuring that all the narratives are changed to reflect the positive records that are being celebrated today.

`We are not also forgetting our numerous customers across board that have stood by us and ensured that they pay their bills and do the needful in some ugly scenarios by protecting and reporting cases of vandalism, power theft, and illegal connections amongst others,” he said

He said the Company over the years had face some challenges but was able to turned those challenges into raw materials to ensure that the Company got better and poised for greater heights.

“We have passed through some challenges but with the help of God we have been able to surmount all the stumbling blocks and come out stronger and viable.”

 “Tremendous achievements have been made in our operations, reinforcement of our network base, acquiring new equipment and upgrading our system to meet up with the demands of our numerous customers,” he added.

He commended the good relations it has with its customers, staff and the media as key stakeholders.
