Dr Aliyu Yakubu, a private medical practitioner in Daura, Katsina State has died of the raging COVID-19 pandemic.
The State Governor, Aminu Masari said this while briefing newsmen on the unfortunate event at the Government house Katsina on Tuesday.
On his official twitter handle @GovernorMasari, the Governor said;
On a sad note, we have recorded the first #COVID19 related death. The victim was Dr Aliyu Yakubu a private medical practitioner in Daura. He was reported to have returned from Lagos not long ago and upon return took himself to the Air Force Hospital in Daura where he died.

Governor Masari said the deceased blood sample was taken to Abuja where it was confirmed to contain #Coronavirus. He was also said to have a history of Hepatitis and Hypertension.
”We have issued a directive for the identification and isolation of all those he had contact with upon his return from Lagos.
”Their blood samples will be taken and tested to know their status, thereafter the next line of action will follow.
”We wish to assure our people that the state government, under our watch, will continue to take all necessary measures to curtail the spread of #COVID19 in the state,” the Governor added.
