The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has confirmed the release of two of it’s ad hoc staff who were abducted in Mbanyagber Council Ward in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State by their abductors.

Benue State Collation Officer, Professor Sebastian Maimako disclosed this at the ongoing Collation of results into governorship elections in Makurdi, the State Capital.

Professor Maimako however says the Commission could not recover the electoral materials carted away by the thugs.

He says a new date would be fixed for the conduct of elections in the 10 Polling Units of the 2 affected Council Wards.

It would be recalled that thugs descended on voters at Mbanyagber Council Ward, carted away electoral materials and abducted two ad hoc staff of INEC just before accreditation began on Saturday.
