Former Toffees striker, Kevin Phillips, has called out Nigeria international Alex Iwobi, and his teammates for the precarious situation the club has found itself, describing their performance in the defeat to Norwich as pathetic and devoid of character.
Everton’s season has been dismal despite splashing around £200m in the transfer market in an attempt to gatecrash the top six.
However, Marcos Silva’s troops have failed to flatter, languishing in the lower rung of the ladder in 15th position, on 14 points after 13 matches.
And following the Merseysiders two-nil home loss to Daniel Farke’s Norwich on Saturday, former striker, Phillips, aired his disbelief about the team’s performance to liverpoolecho.
“The fans were really looking forward to this season,” the former Blues forward stated.
“But for some reason it hasn’t quite got going in fact, it has actually started to regress, and that is why you are seeing that sort of anger.
“They have not been playing with the character. That is the other thing, seeing that character.
“It is one thing to lose, but it is the way they lose. The character of the players they (the fans) are not seeing it and that is why the anger is there.he said.
He added, “Realistically, and no disrespect to Norwich, but Everton Football Club should be sorting Norwich out.”
