Kwara promises support for agro-business to boost state economy

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State says his administration will take advantage of various funding facilities to support agric-business and boost the state’s economy.
Governor AbdulRazaq stated this on when he received Board members of the the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund led by its chairman, Okokon Udo at the Government House, Ilorin.
He called for proper enlightenment programmes on how residents of Kwara could access several opportunities to support agric-business.
The governor promised to create enabling environment for public private partnership through the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources to make things happen for the people of the state.
Governor AbdulRazaq who identified agriculture as key to lifting the state above poverty line assured the Fund of partnership to improving the living standard of the people.
Governor AbdulRazaq promised to count the fund as partner in supporting agric-business in the state.
The Chairman, Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund, Mr Okokon Udo had disclosed that between nineteen seventy-eight and July, this year, the total number of loans guaranteed under the scheme valued at over one hundred and sixteen billion naira, out of which Kwara received over four billion naira.
Mr. Udo who acknowledged that the state had benefited from various Central Bank of Nigeria initiatives said the available statistics indicates that there is room for more state’s participation in Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme Fund.
He believed that the current administration would play an indispensable role in mobilising citizenry to support good governance and encourage them to avail themselves of good initiatives and policies of the Federal Government to improve their living standards.
