The new Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakub Salihu says the 9th Legislature will make the people fulcrum of its legislative activities.
Salihu was speaking in Ilorin while receiving the former Speaker of the Assembly, Ezekiel Benjamin Yisa in his office.
The Speaker who described the legislature as the symbol of democracy, assured that the legislative arm of government under his watch would not relent in providing platform for good governance.
He assured him of stakeholders’ participation in enactment of practicable and enduring laws in the State.
Salihu said the people had higher expectations in the new administration in addressing infrastructure decay and restoring the hope of the people in the ability of government to improve their living standard and praised the former Speaker for his visit.
Salihu said that the 9th Assembly would continue to tap from the wealth of experience and wisdom of the elderly statesman to ensure accelerated socio- economic transformation.
The former Speaker, Ezekiel Benjamin Yisa who was accompanied by a former lawmaker, Olayiwola Ayinde,had said that he was in the House to felicitate with the new Speaker.
He expressed confidence in the ability of the newly inaugurated members of the House to ensure a rancour-free Assembly and fast track socio- economic transformation of the State.
