Femi Abolarin, Founder, Double T Baseball and Softball Club in Kwara, on Tuesday said the body had concluded arrangements to stage National U-15 and U-18 Championships in the state.
Abolarin who said this in Lagos noted the competition would hold from Oct. 26 to Nov. 7, at the Adewole Baseball and Softball Park in Ilorin.
He said the aim of the championships was to further enhance the development of the sport in the country, adding that it was open to states and clubs.
“It has always been a norm for us to organise one or two competitions yearly to promote baseball and softball in Nigeria.
“This year, we will have a two-in-one event in order to identify more talents that could be nurtured for future purposes.
“We have put everything in place to ensure that participants are well catered for during the competition,’’ Abolarin said.
He urged states and clubs that had yet to register for the competition to take advantage of the event to engage their players.
“Registration is still ongoing, but so far, so good, a good number of states and clubs have registered for the championships,’’ he said.
Abolarin thanked the Kwara Government for its support to the development of baseball and softball in the state and country at large.
Double T Baseball and Softball Club is a non-governmental organisation, whose aim is to develop the youths through involvement in sports.
