The residents of Lagos State are set for today’s Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections with some level of commendations for the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
During the early morning monitoring by Voice of Nigeria, VON, while in Governor’s entourage who was on his way to his home town Epe, where he will cast his vote, it was observed that at Ikoyi-Lekki axis of Lagos, INEC officials were already spotted around at 7:22 am, waiting for the exercise to kick off.
At other places visited, prospective voters created a scenic and ambience-like environment waiting for the electoral umpire, while hoping for a successful exercise.
Voice of Nigeria also observed that the security personnels deployed to various check points, though fully armed, out-numbered that of the Presidential and National Assembly polls and operated within the law.
And unlike what transpired two weeks ago, where many private and commercial cars were detained for violating the rules on restrictions on vehicular movement by security operatives, today, most of them complied with the directives.
