Osimhen wins another team of the week nomination

Coach of French Ligue 1 side Lille Christian Galtier says Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen has more than just goals in his game after the striker bag an assist to help them to a 1-1 draw away at Rennes for their first away point of the season.

Osimhen who is the top scorer for Lille with five goals in six games was signed from Belgium side Charleroi after netting 21 goals for the club while on loan from German side Wolfsburg.

Speaking on his stunning start to the season, Galtier said the 20 year old has added a lot to his game since his move to his team particularly his hold up play with his back to goal, which has helped him bring others into play.

” All strikers score goals to help their team but Osimhen does more. He has improved certain areas in his game particularly the ability to bring others into play when he is not in a strong position. There’s more to his game than goals”, Galtier said after the draw against Rennes.

Meanwhile his performance i‎n that game has earned him his third team of the week nomination from just six games, a proof of how well he has quickly adjusted to his new surrounding following his move from Belgium.
