Lockdown: Nigerian Government begins conditional cash transfer in FCT

In a bid to cushion the effects of the total lockdown imposed by President Muhammadu Buhari on the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, the Nigerian Government has given out cash token to residents of Kwali Area Council.

The Nigerian Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, distributed the money on Wednesday morning.

Voice of Nigeria reports that a total of 190 people received cash token of N20,000 each in Kwali Area Council.

Hajiya Farouk explained that beneficiaries who used to receive a token of 5 thousand naira per month, were given the 20 thousand Naira, for four months in advance.

She noted that 5000 people are expected to benefit from the CCT in the FCT.

It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari stated that palliatives would be given by his Administration to cushion the effect of the total lock down of the FCT and the States of Ogun and Lagos.

The lockdown was necessitated by the need to to curb the spread of the Cobid-19 in Nigeria.
