The by-election to elect a new legislator for Obudu, State constituency, in Cross River has witnessed large turnout of voters.
The exercise, conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has so far been peaceful.
Election materials and officers arrived various polling units as early as 8am (local time)
Security personnel were observed at their duty post.
Some voters expressed the hope that the exercise will continue peacefully till a winner is announced.
The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Ben Ayade and his wife Linda have already voted at their polling unit.
Professor Ayade urged candidates, their parties and faithful to conduct themselves peacefully.
