Mayweather appointed as Chinese Boxing Federation “special adviser”

Floyd Mayweather has been appointed by the Chinese Boxing Federation to help bring the country boxing success at next year’s Olympics.

American legend Mayweather will act as a “special adviser” in the build-up to the Games in Tokyo next summer, with the intention of helping the nation win some medals.

A statement on the CBF’s WeChat page said that Mayweather had promised to: “go all-out to use his influence and resources to support the Chinese boxing project in achieving excellent results at the Tokyo Olympics”

China have won three gold medals in boxing, along with a trio of silvers and six bronze medals at previous Olympics – with the sport previously banned for 27 years.
