Minister advocates synergy in science and technology

Nigeria’s Minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has called for synergy among Government, Universities and the manufacturing sectors for the benefit of the nation.

The Minister made the call when he visited the Emir of Gombe State, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu at his palace, in Gombe State, Northeast Nigeria.

Dr. Onu said that Nations leading the world today, utilise Science and Technology to influence every aspect of their lives.

“We shall be happy if you can help us encourage our people to take interest in Science and Technology and by doing this, we shall be creating wealth thereby reducing poverty in the country,” he said.

The Minister urged the Emir to encourage his subjects to show keen interest in Science and Technology.

Dr. Onu praised the Emir for following the footsteps of his predecessors in maintaining peace and order in his domain.

The Emir of Gombe, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abubakar Shehu said he has noted the efforts of the Minister in promoting Science and Technology for the overall development of the nation.

He said Gombe was a commercial  state, explaining that the farmers in the state would benefit from the Minister’s efforts in promoting Science, Technology, and Innovation, especially in the agricultural sector.

He further appealed to the Federal Government to cite agro-based industries in the State.
