Minister charges Heads of Parastatals on National Unity

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.

Nigeria’s Information and culture Minister, Lai Mohammed has charged the heads of the information section of the ministry to use their broadcast platforms to unite the country.

The Minister made this known on Thursday in Abuja when heads of some agencies under the ministry paid him a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his renewed appointment

Mr. Mohammed told the heads of the agencies to reciprocate the president’s gesture by redoubling their effort and also doing everything within their powers and capacities to strengthen the country’s unity at this critical time.

“You all have a responsibility to torn down the heat around the polity. The hatred, the divisiveness and the threats to national unity is enormous. We must all work to promote national unity and cordial relationship. Let us work together and take back our dear country from the heat of the naysayers.”

The Minister said the acrimony being peddle by the enemies of the country is so much. He said the time ahead will be tough but he believes with cooperation of the heads of the information section of the ministry the narrative can be changed for good not just at home but even to the outside world.

Speaking earlier, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency Garba Abari who led the delegation assured the minister of their total loyalty and support. He said the times ahead will be very rough and tough but he also assured the minister that they are going to be with till the end. He said the purpose of their visit was to commit themselves to the journey ahead.

Those present were the DG Voice of Nigeria, DG NTA, DG NBC, DG FRCN and Ag DG Centre for Black and African Culture.
