The Minister, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Malam Muhammed Musa Bello has advised staff of the Administration to live up to their responsibilities or be sacked.
Malam Bello gave the admonition when he received the hand-over notes from the territory Permanent Secretary, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa Abuja Nigeria’s capital.
He said his second term would not be wasted in cajoling staff to do their duties.
The Minister stated that every agency under the ministry was expected to do its work diligently.
He said every head of agency would be held responsible and accountable for any eventuality.
”I will not be cajoling, lobbying, pushing you, begging you to do your work. Anybody that does his work will be part of the team and anyone that does not do his or her work will be kicked out,” the Minister said.
He said that more attention will be placed on proper information dissemination which he said was inadequate in his first tenure.
While stressing the need for the monitoring of all Secretariats, Departments and Agencies SDAs, Malam Bello explained that every Minister has targets to achieve and all heads of SDAs must do their part to ensure that those targets were achieved within sa stipulated timeframe.
Provision of Funds
He said that he will focus on the provision of funding for the successful execution of projects that have direct bearing to the upliftment of residents of the territory and the development of the nation’s capital.
The Minister who said he was humbled by his reappointment by President Muhammadu Buhari, said he will ensure that all SDAs get the necessary funds to carry out their duties effectively.
“There is going to be enforcement of extant rules and regulations and this is going to cut across boards, including in the SDAs, Area Councils and traditional institutions in the FCT,” he said.
The territory Permanent Secretary, Chinyeaka Ohaa expressed the delight of the entire staff of the Administration over the reappointment of Malam Bello as FCT Minister and Dr. Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu as Minister of State.
While highlighting issues that were still on-going and in public domain in the last three months, the Permanent secretary assured the Minister that all SDAs have been alive to their duties and have given the maximum cooperation and support required for the administration to function effectively.
Ohaa also pledged for the cooperation and support of the entire staff of the FCTA for both Ministers to achieve their mandate of taking the FCT to the next level.
