The National President, Nigerian Army Officer’s Wives Association, NAOWA, Mrs Ummu Kursum has commissioned four boreholes in 4 different communities of Igabi Local Coucil of Kaduna State.
Other items donated amongst the four villages which comprises of Jura, Kajinjiri, Rahama and Unguwan gide are 810 bags of grains, pasta, groundnut oil, wrappers, bed covers and washing soap.
At the commissioning in Kaduna, Mrs Buratai said, the NAOWA charity outreach was to commemorate the Chief of Army Staff Conference 2019.
She commiserated with the villagers over the loss of lives and properties during series of attacks them. “Thanks to the Army for the quick intervention and restoring peace to the good people of this community”.
The President explained that, NAOWA is a philanthropic non-governmental organisation formed by Army Officers wives to promote friendship among officers wives and support the less privileged in the society.
“We are in Kaduna State to attend the ongoing Chief of Army Staff conference and as it has been our tradition to reach out to the needy, we have identified your communities to be among the communities to benefit from our programme this year“.
“I am aware before now that your wives trek miles away to get water from ponds. “We are here to ease your water problems by donating 4 boreholes, one in each of the villages. From today, your water problem is over. You will not drink the water animals drink. By implication, it means henceforth, you will not suffer from water bone diseases“.
Mrs Buratai also presented tricycles to the physically challenged.
She therefore urged them to take good care of the water facilities for optimal durability.
“Make good use of it and enjoy all season portable water. I also want to use this medium to urge you to embrace peaceful coexistence because no meaningful development can strive without peace“.
